Hello to everyone! This blog will be my attempt at keeping people current about Deaf Catholic Ministry activities in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois and the Peoria Diocese. I am Deaf myself and am just finishing up four years of training in ministry formation in Chicago, Illinois.
Right now, Mass is interpreted the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on W. Main in Urbana Illinois. We save seats at the front of the church so the Deaf can see the interpreter. We have had two Reconciliation Services for the Deaf and Hard of hearing in Champaign and I hope to do this again sometime.
